Who are OMODA & JAECOO? Every model launching in UK REVEALED! | batchreviews (James Batchelor)
You probably haven't heard of Omoda and Jaecoo. They are launching in the UK this year with a range of petrol, hybrid and electric SUVs with some big plans to disrupt the market.
Omoda and its posher sister Jaecoo are two brands from the enormous Chery organisation. Chery is one of China's biggest carmakers and sold over 1.8m cars in its domestic market in 2023.
It has brought these two brands to the UK and sales start very soon. But what cars are they launching? I tell you everything you need to know

Renault Scenic 2024 DRIVEN: The electric SUV to buy? | batchreviews (James Batchelor)
Переглядів 28 тис.3 місяці тому
The original Renault Scenic was loved by families in the nineties and noughties. It pretty much created the whole mini-MPV craze, but times have changed and people-carriers aren't as popular as they once were. Renault has decided to reboot the Scenic as an electric SUV to rival the Skoda Enyaq and Peugeot E-3008. However, on account of its spacious interior, Renault prefers the term 'family car...
Peugeot E-3008 review - Posh but pricey electric SUV DRIVEN | batchreviews (James Batchelor)
Переглядів 14 тис.3 місяці тому
Peugeot can probably lay its success of its recent turnaround at the wheels of the second-generation 3008. At a stroke it showed Peugeots needn't be cheap and undesirable - something that a whole wave of models before suffered from. Launched in 2016, the second-generation 3008 showed off a radical new design both inside and out, new tech and a stunning interior brimming with quality materials. ...
Suzuki Swace review - I lived with one for 6 MONTHS and this what I thought | batchreviews
Переглядів 9 тис.4 місяці тому
Sometimes I'm lucky enough to test a car for longer than a couple of weeks. In the past I've had some great 'long-term' test cars, and the Suzuki Swace is my latest. It's fair to say I've never lived with a car that looks quite so ordinary but is also quite so brilliant. In my six months I racked up 6,000 miles... so I think I'm in a position to tell you exactly what I think of the Swace. The S...

Volkswagen ID. Buzz 2024 review - Is it worth the hype? | batchreviews (James Batchelor)

It's been a VERY long time coming. In fact, Volkswagen has been teasing us with a modern version of its iconic Type 2 van for over 20 years, with different concepts and previews showing what could be. But now, eventually, VW has made good on its promise. Meet the ID. Buzz. It uses a lot of what you'll find in VW's other ID models, such as the ID.3 and ID.4, but wraps all of this up in a retro b...

Jaguar F-Pace SVR review ua-cam.com/video/iiHZAW0XJm8/v-deo.html You could say the new ‘75’ models are just special edition F-Types and nothing more. But there’s something far more romantic going on here as Jaguar is pulling on every petrolhead's heartstrings with the F-Type P450 75 and F-Type R 75, for they represent the final iteration of the F-Type sports car. Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer Electric review - Best EV estate on sale? | James Batchelor

Electric estate cars aren't exactly popular at the moment - there's just not many on sale right now. Of course, there's the MG5, while at the other end of the spectrum there's the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo - and it's a bit of a stretch to call the Porsche an estate, in all honesty. Step forward, the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer Electric. This could be the most perfect and rational electric e...
New Volkswagen Touareg 2024 review | batchreviews (James Batchelor)

Volkswagen has given its largest SUV, the Touareg, an update for 2024 to give it a little more sparkle. There are styling tweaks and some clever new tech added. Electric cars from premium carmakers are expensive, right? Well, that could change with the Volvo EX30 because, on the surface at least, it’s a high quality EV with a decent electric range and has a low starting price of just under £34,000. I don’t understand why anyone would consider this a worthy successor to the VW Bus. It doesn’t look very retro at all, and it looks like an SUV inside and out. It doesn’t have the spaciousness of the original, and that would be the most important part to me. Is that illegal to make now or something?

An accurate review which sums the Swace up nicely. I’ve owned the base model with the 140 bhp power train for 11 months and done 5000 miles which is low mileage as I’m retired. The car easily copes with the M1 M6 and a variety of other roads and has been used with back seats down to move large items which it does easily. The spare wheel situation hasn’t been an issue but just in case I bought a spare wheel package (jack, spanner and wheel with cover) over internet and which fits easily in the space provided and there is still loads of space. As I visit Wales regularly I don’t want to get caught out with a flat in the middle of nowhere. The boot floor is adjustable and can be lowered about 3 inches or flat level through out the loading area. I run in normal mode and regularly get 55mpg plus and if in town over 60mpg this is a great alternative to an all electric car. I should try eco mode but I’ve found a bit of extra power is beneficial in certain traffic situations hence the normal setting suits me best driving wise. A great car but not an exciting car, it does what an estate car should do and it is actually 30mm smaller than the focus hatchback it replaced in width. It is however longer than the focus hatchback. It actually fits in the garage better than the old focus which was always tight on the door frame. 😊😊😊

I don't quite understand why you keep saying this is an electric car and not a hybrid. It certainly is a hybrid. Its not a drivetrain what defines a hybrid, but a mix of electric and petrol which is different in different car manufactures, while they all rely on both electricity and fossil fuel in different sophisticated ways.

Hi! Thanks for your video. I've switched from a used 122PS Swace (bought in August 2023) to a 140PS Swace in March. While the old one wasn't a bad car, the new one is better to drive in so many ways. I agree, you have to get used to driving this car. First of all you must have a sensitive right foot :-) Nevertheless, I enjoy going in Sport Mode, the car is very lively, but with some experience, you'll still be able to keep it in EV mode. Fuel consumption is about 4.0l... I still prefer my second car, a Honda Civic Diesel 2018 for highway tempo (limit is 130km/h here in Austria). :-) Cheers, Günter

kind of missed the whole point of the tech. The petrol version is 10mpg worse than this. The epower just means you get way better fuel economy and all the torque from the electric motor. No plug in nonsense and no range anxiety. It's spot on. Everyone is crying out for this. Think you are a bit out of touch. Full electric cars are garbage. nobody wants to sit and wait for it to charge in this day and age, and it's not exactly cheap to charge it. Petrol lives.

Agreed batch - it doesn’t look great in the back in fact there looks to be less room than the e2008. Seems odd. I also prefer cars that have moved away from that ‘gubbins’ between the front seats - it’s unnecessary and makes you feel hemmed in - it just seems they can’t move the design language away from legacy thinking….

The engine is 50% thermally efficient! That is super high for an internal combustion engine generator. Even if this hybrid is barely more efficient than the normal car, it still has many of the advantages of an EV: Better reliability, instant throttle, regenerative braking (saves brakes) etc.

I have been following this car (strike through) quadricycle since I first learned about it and this is one of the best, most personable UA-cam reviews of the vehicle I have watched. It catches the essence of what the vehicle is for: an 'almost' ideal commuting vehicle for runs to the shops & errands of that sort. Unfortunately, as Batch said, manufacturers don't want to build vehicles like this for the mass market because there is no money to be made. Citroen, to their credit, took on the challenge and I think they have come up with the raison d'etre for owning or leasing one of these vehicles. Stellantis, the parent company of Citroen, builds these vehicles in Morocco and the earliest iterations had some problems due to manufacturing (poorly welded internal frames) and oversights to 'real world' conditions in countries where you might find snow and other inclement weather conditions, i.e. no wheel shrouds to prevent debris from getting up into the motor and wheel mechanics. Hopefully, by now, feedback from users has corrected these problems and quality control has caught more of the manufacturing shortcomings before they leave the factory. Except for a brief period when Stellantis put some Amis out for car sharing services they own/ed in Washington, DC, I don't think any will ever see the streets of North America aside from some hobbyists who just have to have one of these 'commuters' for their own enjoyment; c'est dommage. 😟

My nearest Toyota dealer is about 50 minute drive from me although I have a choice of three depending on which direction I go. I visited two of them and it was all deal by appointment and they couldn't fit me in when I wanted. So didn't bother booking a test drive which they were reluctant to arrange. Went to Browning's and had test drive in Swace straight away. Was shown all the tweaks with the CVT gearbox as well as the way to use my iPhone for sat nav. It doesn't come with manufactures sat nav.
